Dr. Lamman Rucker is an Actor, Educator, Activist and Entrepreneur who, since his childhood years, has used his platform, passion and purpose to empower, educate and ignite communities through artistic, philanthropic and academic innovation.
A leading man in Hollywood for over 20 years, Lamman currently leads an all-star cast in the NAACP Image Award nominated new BET drama series, The Black Hamptons. You will also recognize him as ‘Jacob Greenleaf’ in Oprah Winfrey’s, Greenleaf; as ‘Will Brown’ in Tyler Perry’s, Meet The Browns; as ‘Sheriff Troy’, in Tyler Perry’s, Why Did I Get Married? films and his feature film debut in the timeless classic, The Temptations, as crooner ‘Jimmy Ruffin’.
When not on camera, Lamman is constantly inspiring positive change as an activist with a relentless commitment to freedom, justice and community empowerment. Since his teen years, he has fought for arts funding, economic equity, financial literacy, community safety, HIV/AIDS prevention & testing, mental health, child advocacy, climate change, and equitable access to clean air, food & water, among other issues.
He is the CEO and Co-Founder of dynamic non-profit, The Black Gents, Inc. – a collective of actors, artists, visionaries and other Black men of action and excellence driven to resurrect, restore and refine the positive images of Black men and boys through culture, cinema, sophistication and service.
